THEATRE PRODUCTION CLASS
JAN - APRIL, 2020
SCROLL BELOW FOR DATES, PRICE, ETC
Our Theatre Production Class will teach novice and experienced actors and dancers all aspects of performing in a play production as we produce WHOSE PLAY IS IT ANYWAY?. During the first few weeks, students will learn the basics of auditioning, acting, characterization and scene blocking, as well as musical theatre dance basics and practice combinations. Through extensive script table reads, acting exercises and creating backstories, students will learn to enhance their characters with proper motivation and intent prior to blocking the show. The cast will also learn a full musical theatre prop and dance number for the play.
Students who would also like to prepare a song or play an instrument for a Pre-Show prior to the play performances are welcomed to audition. Those auditions will be held during class at a time/date tbd. Voice coaching by Lizzy Griffin is available to selected students for an additional fee.
THEATRE PRODUCTION CLASS - PLAY DESCRIPTION -
"THE GET-ALONG GIRLS"
Raina, Poppy and Lulu must stop fighting. Their mother would rather they express only happiness and sunshine. When they don’t, she has a clever form of discipline—she punishes the quarreling perpetrators by making them wear ‘get-along clothes’ until laughter ensues and her household is happy again. But continual jubilation is difficult when Raina is continually annoyed by her younger sisters fly-by-night business ventures and daredevil antics. Poppy’s fundraising to attend the Kids Biz Convention is far fetched, Lulu’s entry into the Soap Box Derby both conflicts with Raina’s high school graduation and is just not as important as what Raina has to do. All Raina wants to do is prepare her valedictorian speech for graduation, but Mom keeps putting them in conjoined shirts, pants, hats and pjs til Raina can’t take anymore! Will Lulu get to compete in the Derby? Will Poppy think of a fabulous idea to raise money for the Kid Biz Convention? Will the Rose sisters ever stop fighting and learn to get along? And will Raina realize that telling the truth and loving her sisters is the most important lesson of all.
